Best bets and predicted finishing positions in the Federated Auto Parts 400
Back this weekend’s drivers with “Joe Gibbs Racing” next to their names. BetMGM lists four JGR Toyotas as the top favorites, with Richmond ace Martin Truex Jr. having the best odds (+600). In second place are Kyle Busch (+700), Christopher Bell (+800), and third place Denny Hamlin (+700). Chase Elliott (+900) and Kyle Larson (+1000), both driving for Rick Hendrick Motorsports in Chevrolets, round out the group of drivers with odds of 10 to 1.
Joey Logano (+1600), a two-time winner at Richmond, and William Byron (+1800), who led 122 laps in the spring race at Richmond, are two drivers that Yahoo Sports’ Nick Bromberg recommends if you’re looking for good value from the Gibbs stable. Bromberg advises avoiding last week’s pole sitter and runner-up Bubba Wallace (+1600).
Description of the Richmond Raceway’s Track and Its Past and Future Developments
Richmond, with its D-shaped oval, has hosted Cup Series races since 1953 and is the third-oldest track in the series. It is also the third-shortest track in the series, at 34 mile, behind Bristol and Martinsville, both of which are half-milers. Richard Petty won 13 races in a row at the track between the years 1961 and 1976. There have been 26 races held since 2009, and 16 of them have been won by Toyota drivers, including six victories by Busch and three victories by Truex Jr.
For the last six Cup races, there have been no more than two accident-caused cautions, averaging a 60-lap run. That makes pit stop efficiency, in-race adjustments, and strategy even more important, which benefits bigger teams like Gibbs and Hendrick who have access to more data and more strategic options.
Federated Auto Parts 400 race day forecast
Comfortable in temperature and devoid of moisture. Temperatures of 80 degrees are predicted, with lows of 60 degrees. That ought to keep things running smoothly throughout the weekend, during which the Truck Series is also competing.
