Trump swore to stop saying anything about the case for 5 years

One of Trump’s attorneys said that he answered one question willingly.

A lot of incriminating statements about oneself there.

During a four-hour deposition with the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James in lower Manhattan on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump reportedly pleaded the Fifth Amendment at least 440 times to avoid answering questions about business dealings at his real estate company.

The former Manhattan tycoon said in a statement, “Under the advice of my counsel… I declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution.”

One of Trump’s lawyers claimed that the only question the former president willingly answered was “what is your name?”

James’s spokesperson confirmed, without providing details, that Trump had claimed the Fifth.

Trump attorney Ron Fischetti said his client was questioned about the square footage of his apartment, as well as the value of various Trump Organization properties and golf clubs.

Trump has been very vocal about his distaste for people who take the Fifth Amendment to avoid testifying against themselves, including his political opponents and associates.

Trump claims that the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, and he condemns the action as “not necessary or appropriate.”

The former president claims he has reversed his position because he now views the investigation into the Trump Organization as a politically motivated “witch hunt.”

Trump said in a statement, “I once asked, ‘If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?'” “I had to wonder about that, but now I know.”

In his own words, Trump said, “When your family, your company, and all the people in your orbit have become the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt supported by lawyers, prosecutors, and the Fake News Media, you have no choice.”

James’s investigation is purely civil, and has nothing to do with the classified document recovery mission that federal agents conducted at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate this week.
